Cauvery Institute of Health sciences was started in the year 2010 with three branches B.Sc in Medical Imaging Technology, Operation Theatre Technology & Medical Laboratory Technology. Subsequently over the next 9 years, additional branches were added to the institute i.e., B.Sc in Perfusion Technology, Cardiac Care Technology, Respiratory Care Technology, Renal Dialysis Technology, Anaesthesia Technology, Optometry, Neurosciences, Emergency Medicine, Audiology & Speech Language Pathology & M.Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology, M.Sc in Echocardiography and others. Very few institutions under RGUHS having almost all the courses in Allied Health Sciences and Cauvery Institute of Health Sciences is one amongst them.
Cauvery Heart & Multispecialty Hospital,(250 beds ) one of the premier hospitals in Mysuru, with state of the art facilities ranging from diagnostic, therapeutic & preventive medicine facilities serves as a primary place of clinical training for our students.
We also provide additional clinical exposure at Medcure Diagnostics our own diagnostic centre, various other hospitals & government institutes like Mysore Medical College & Research Institute, Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences & Research Centre, PKTB Sanatorium hospital, KR Hospital etc.
We also stress upon the systematic training of our students with the help of well trained, knowledgeable faculty for over-all development of the students. Institute also features well equipped anatomy lab & museum, State of the art skill lab and well equipped laboratories for proper training of students. We also concentrate on holistic development of our students with additional emphasis on extracurricular activities – both cultural & sports
We are also proud to state that we have created a bench mark in the educational standards which is mirrored upon by the achievements of our students which involves a number of ranks at the university level. A RGUHS gold medal conferred upon on one of our students last year is a feather in the cap.
Our Courses
Cardiac care technicians assist Cardiologists in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac (heart) and peripheral vascular (blood vessel) conditions. Cardiac technologists prepare patients for Cath-lab procedures. They also monitor patients during these procedures. They will also be trained to perform many procedures including ECG, Echocardiography, assist in Transesophageal echocardiography, Angiograms & Angioplasties, Pacemaker Implantation, Transarterial device closures Cardiac care technicians are also trained in management of patients in Cardiac care ICUs with special emphasis on management of patients on IABP.

Course involves the study of physiology, pathology and associated equipment used to support and or assume the function of the heart and or lungs during medical procedures. The perfusion technologist prepares and operates the heart-lung machine and other sophisticated equipment as directed by healthcare physicians. The Perfusionist utilizes technology such as heart/ lung machines, ventricular assist devices and artificial hearts, as well as pharmacological interventions to maintain the patient during the period of circulatory support. They are responsible for setup & maintenance of heart lung machine, and other supportive systems like IABP, LVAD, RVAD & ECMO.

Respiratory therapists have also job options in case of management, disease prevention, emergency care, and the early detection of pulmonary disorders. Respiratory Therapy is an allied health field involved in the assessment and treatment of breathing disorders including chronic lung problems, such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and the respiratory components of acute multi systemic conditions such as heart attacks and stroke.

Medical Imaging Technologist perform the diagnostic imaging tests on patients, thus aiding in accurate diagnosis of diseases. Students will be trained to perform complex radiological procedures like X-ray and related diagnostic procedures like Barium Studies, HSG, RGU/MCU, IVU etc. They will also be trained to perform Computerized Tomography (CT scans), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). They will also be trained to assist CT/ MRI guided procedures.

Renal Dialysis technicians monitor and operate dialysis machinery, which removes waste and excess fluids from the blood of patients with kidney dysfunction.
